PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM STILLS
Time slows down on a movie set
This week I had the pleasure of working on a film set, shooting stills again. While I can't share any of the shots until the movie's release, the experience reminded me of how time seems to slow down on set. The repetition of takes allows for a deep exploration of the scene, and each take refines the performance, bringing the story to life through adding layers and layers of detail in the actors' performances. One becomes immersed in the conversation, and hours pass while filming what seems like the same moment. Perhaps it was the nature of this film, with its dialogue-heavy script, but it's a fascinating phenomenon to observe.
The photograph below comes from the film set of Gateway, which is available on streaming services.
